The low vocational competence of teachers has become an essential issue in the last few decades. This problem is due to lack actual work experience industry for teachers. One skills improvement programs that are considered adequate industrial apprenticeship program. Many studies discuss apprenticeships, but there still limited examine effective improve pre-service at automotive engineering Vocational High Schools. Therefore, this study aims determine development a Work-Based Learning (WBL)-based model and its effectiveness Schools field engineering. uses Education Research Development (R&D) approach involves two campuses Central Java-Indonesia. There were 20 three parties involved preliminary study. obtain information about problems needs model. Furthermore, 60 12 follow-up test sampling technique used purposive sampling. results revealed WBL-based was feasible. In addition, implementation can teachers, which includes knowledge, attitudes, have implications education practitioners, especially higher organizes teacher programs, apply preparing because plays vital role improving
